Wet Room Installation in St Ives
Wet rooms are one of the more popular upgrades we fit in St Ives, partly because so much of the local housing stock has tiny first-floor bathrooms that benefit from rethinking the layout, and partly because the surrounding villages have a lot of older residents wanting step-free showers. Done properly, a wet room should last decades without leaking or staining.
Around St Ives we get steady demand from two very different groups. Families on the newer Wheatfields estates want wet rooms in their en-suites for the modern look and the easier cleaning. Older residents in the surrounding villages of Hemingford Grey, Hemingford Abbots, Houghton, Needingworth, and Bluntisham are usually after accessibility: a step-free shower so they can stay in their own home as their needs change. Both need exactly the same thing technically — a watertight floor and walls, the right drain, and a fall that actually works.
Every St Ives wet room we fit gets the floor and at least 1.8m of wall tanked with a proper waterproof membrane, the falls set into the screed, and a linear drain wherever the layout allows. Then we tile, fit the screen and shower, and pressure-test everything before sign-off. For homes with very hard water like ours, we'll talk through limescale-resistant fittings and whether a softener is worth fitting at the same time.
